Many of us have witnessed the prolific boom in the reality home renovation shows. Whether it’s a “flipper-type” show or the uber-popular (though now finished) “Fixer-Upper” program, we have seen how a diamond in the rough can be transformed within a final budget. There is a growing trend to refine the stylishness, utility, and gathering space provided by backyards and front porches. Starting at the front of the house, curb appeal has come on the radar of many homeowners who realize that the invitation into our home’s starts at the curb. Thoughtfully coordinated building materials (siding, windows, roof, paint, front door) in combination with hardscape and landscape plant materials creates the overall esthetic for the entire home.

Backyard retreats have always been popular. But for new home buyers, what they see in back yards continues to ratchet up the must-haves list. The extension of indoor living area onto patio, deck, barbeque, pergola’ed spaces has become a place for quiet, private, peace-filled retreat from life’s hectic busyness. As a full service contractor, we can bring together our trade partner landscapers, carpenters, painters, masons, electricians, and appliance providers to assist you in creating a place of pride and peace.

All of our trade partners work in both the residential and commercial worlds. I (Chris) come from a heritage of commercial contracting in that my great grandpa founded Kranz Construction in 1905. This makes me a 4^th generation builder. KR’s sweet spot in the commercial landscape is in the remodeling, buildout, limited scope, and final finishes projects. We provide turn-key support in the planning and production of your light commercial projects. We work comfortably with municipality, fire safety, and building management officials.

Sometimes its our customers who introduce us to new innovations like step stools that are concealed in the toe kick of kitchen cabinets. Other times its our vendors like our flooring trade partner who many years ago introduced us to the residential use of commercial grade LVT flooring (which is now a standard option residentially). Sometimes we at KR innovate, such as our use of drywall “built ins” rather than traditional wood book or show cases. Recently we have been innovating to bring greater value to some of our customers through “no-demo renovations.” Such as bringing fresh new life to a standard subdivision “vinyl” master bathroom. Using the existing cabinets, shower enclosure, and tub, KR crafted a new look through tile, paint, trim, LVT flooring, and economically chosen light and plumbing fixtures. Take a look at some of our other “surprises,” like the media room which transforms to a guest room via a murphy bed.

If kitchens are the central hub of a home, close seconds will be the everyday work spaces like mud rooms, laundry areas, and utility multi-use spaces. Recently KR has been called upon to assist in the transforming multi-use spaces like laundry-mud room combo, the office-laundry space, and creating storage solutions. On occasions we find homeowners desiring to tackle multiple projects at once. This may begin with a kitchen remodel that will change the flooring in a greater portion of the home. Lower Levels recapture un-used or under-used space through the design and build of a space that provides a life-giving place for your family and guests to re-create and enjoy the fullness of your homes potential. KR particularly likes the challenge that comes with the multi-use needs of lower levels. The media room that turns to the periodic guest sleeping space.
